How do I change my areas of practice?

Your areas of practice (also called areas of law) decide what LexLens shows you — your Home briefing, your feed emphasis, and your Morning Lens are all built around them. You can follow as many of the 27 areas as you like, and change them any time. There are three places to do it.

1. The fastest way — the "Your Areas" widget on Home

On your Home screen, find the Your Areas widget (right-hand column, or lower down on smaller screens).

  1. Select Add area to add a practice area, or select the ✕ on any chip to remove it.
  2. Changes save automatically — there's no save button here.
  3. Select Done when you're finished.

This widget changes your areas only; to change your jurisdiction, use Account Settings (below).

2. Account Settings — areas and jurisdiction together

  1. Open Account Settings (your avatar / account menu on Home or Explore).
  2. Under Default Areas of Law, use the Select areas dropdown to search and tick the areas you want.
  3. (Optional) set your Default Jurisdiction in the same screen.
  4. Select Save Preferences to apply. ⚠️ This step is required — your changes are not saved until you select Save Preferences.

You must keep at least one area selected.

3. From the Home empty state (new accounts)

If you don't follow any areas yet, Home shows Pick your practice areas. Select Choose your areas (or Finish onboarding) to set them up.
